How to play Falling Words
- Press Start. After a short countdown, words begin dropping from the top of the play area.
- Start typing any word you see. The first letters lock you onto that word and highlight it.
- Finish the word before it reaches the bottom to clear it and score points. Wrong keys simply don't register.
- Every 10 cleared words the level goes up: words fall faster and spawn more often. Miss three words and the game ends.
Tips for a higher score
- Always attack the lowest word first — it's the one about to cost you a life.
- Keep a combo alive. Clearing words back to back multiplies your score up to five times.
- Don't look at the keyboard. If you have to, spend a few minutes on the touch typing lessons first.
- Start on Easy to warm up, then move to Medium or Hard once your accuracy stays high.
Falling Words — questions and answers
Is Falling Words free to play?
Yes, it's free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no install, no ads during the game.
How is the score calculated?
Each cleared word scores its length times ten, multiplied by your current level and combo multiplier. Longer words at higher levels with a long combo are worth the most.
Does the game measure my WPM?
Yes. The end-of-game summary shows your words per minute and accuracy for that run, alongside your best score, which is saved in your browser.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
It works on touch devices, but Falling Words is designed for a physical keyboard — that's where you'll get real typing practice and your best scores.
