Common Word Patterns
Why do common words matter?
Most English text is actually built from a small set of repeated words: “the”, “and”, “of”, “to” show up in nearly every sentence. Being able to type these words automatically, without thinking, directly boosts your overall speed.
Two-hand coordination
Most of the words in this exercise alternate between your left and right hand. That keeps your hands working in a smooth rhythm instead of waiting on each other. Focus on moving straight into the next word the moment you finish one.
How should you practice?
- Hit the space bar with your thumb, without looking, between words.
- Aim to type short words as a single motion rather than letter by letter.
- These patterns show up constantly in everyday writing, so the speed you build here pays off everywhere.
