Tricky Letter Combinations
Why are these words hard?
Some letter groups sit right next to each other on the keyboard or are typed with the same finger in a row, which slows you down and raises your error rate. English words with clusters like “str”, “ght”, and “thr” are classic examples.
How should you practice?
- Type these words slowly the first time and focus on accuracy.
- If you notice a specific letter pair trips you up, drill just that pair on its own (e.g. “th th th”).
- Over time these combinations become automatic, and your overall speed will noticeably improve.
