Announcement & Press Release Practice

Why is press-release text different?

A formal announcement combines an all-caps header, a percentage figure, a quoted statement with attribution, and a website address — a denser and more formal pattern than everyday writing.

  • Try to pick up speed moving from an ALL-CAPS header into a normal sentence without tiring your hand.
  • Pay attention to the period and slash transitions in addresses that start with “www.”

How should you practice?

  • Move straight from a closing quotation mark into a verb like “said” without pausing.
  • Reinforce typing the percent sign right after a number, with no space.
  • In long sentences, treat each comma-separated block as its own breath as you move forward.
