Announcement & Press Release Practice
Why is press-release text different?
A formal announcement combines an all-caps header, a percentage figure, a quoted statement with attribution, and a website address — a denser and more formal pattern than everyday writing.
- Try to pick up speed moving from an ALL-CAPS header into a normal sentence without tiring your hand.
- Pay attention to the period and slash transitions in addresses that start with “www.”
How should you practice?
- Move straight from a closing quotation mark into a verb like “said” without pausing.
- Reinforce typing the percent sign right after a number, with no space.
- In long sentences, treat each comma-separated block as its own breath as you move forward.
