Which finger presses Shift?

The correct reflex for capital letters is pressing Shift with the pinky of the opposite hand from the letter:

• To capitalize a letter typed with the right hand, use the left Shift.
• To capitalize a letter typed with the left hand, use the right Shift.

This lets one hand hold Shift down while the other reaches for the letter, so the two keys are pressed together, crosswise.

How should you practice?

• Automate capitalizing proper nouns (names, cities, countries).
• Move only your pinky when pressing Shift, not your whole wrist.
• Aim to capitalize sentence starts without breaking your flow.
