Why does punctuation matter?

Most real-world text is full of commas, periods, and question marks. If you can’t type them without looking, your fluency breaks at the end of every sentence.

• The comma (,) is typed with the right pinky, just after the main letter keys.
• The period (.) is typed with the right pinky as well, one key to the right of the comma.
• The question mark (?) requires the right pinky combined with Shift.

How should you practice?

• Return your finger to the home row immediately after each punctuation mark.
• Try not to pause at the end of sentences; keep the rhythm going.
• Pay attention to hand coordination on characters that need Shift: one hand holds Shift while the other types the letter.
