Letters unique to Turkish

Unlike the standard English QWERTY layout, the Turkish keyboard has six extra letters: ı, ğ, ü, ş, ö, ç. Since these letters appear very frequently in everyday Turkish writing, memorizing their positions has a direct impact on your typing speed.

• ş and i sit at the right edge of the home row and are typed with the right pinky and index fingers.
• ğ, ü, ö, ç are clustered at the right edge of the top row.

Why a dedicated lesson?

Many beginners who’ve built up speed on English exercises hesitate as soon as they switch to Turkish text and hit these characters. This exercise is designed to train your fingers on the positions where these letters occur in real Turkish words.
