C++ Typing Test

Practice typing real C++ code — the symbols, keywords and indentation you use every day. Measures coding WPM, accuracy and syntax accuracy.

Enter = new line · Tab = indent · Esc = restart. A wrong key is counted and the cursor waits for the right one.

Tips for typing C++

C++ is symbol-dense: :: scope operators, <> templates, -> pointer access and & references all need Shift or awkward reaches. Slow down on std:: and -> until your fingers find them without looking.

A C++ snippet you might get

class Counter {
public:
    void increment() { ++value_; }
    int value() const { return value_; }
private:
    int value_ = 0;
};

Code typing tests by language

How the code typing test works

  1. Pick a language and length, click the editor and start typing — the timer starts on your first key.
  2. Press Enter for new lines. With auto-indent on, leading spaces are skipped just like in your editor; turn it off to practise indentation too.
  3. A wrong key flashes red and is counted, but the cursor waits for the correct character — so every slip is measured without leaving broken code behind.
  4. Your result shows coding WPM, overall accuracy, syntax accuracy and the exact characters you missed most.

Code typing test — FAQ

What is a good typing speed for programmers?

Coding WPM is usually 30–50% lower than prose WPM because of symbols, casing and indentation. 40–60 code WPM with 95%+ accuracy is solid; above 70 is excellent.

What is syntax accuracy?

It's your accuracy on non-letter characters only — brackets, braces, quotes, semicolons and operators. These are the keys behind most syntax errors, so it's the number worth improving.

Which languages can I practise?

JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, SQL, Java, C#, C++, Go, Rust, PHP, HTML, CSS and Bash — all real-world snippets.

Does faster typing make you a better programmer?

Thinking matters more than typing, but fluent symbol typing removes friction: fewer typos, fewer broken builds, and more attention left for the actual problem.
