Typing Snake

The snake only moves when you type. Follow the letters on its path, eat the apple, and keep growing before the hunger bar runs out.

Hunger 0.0s
Apples 0
Length 3
Streak 0
Score 0

Each correct letter moves the snake one square. A wrong key costs hunger time. Eat the apple before the bar runs out.

How to play Typing Snake

  1. Pick a difficulty and a language, then click the board and start typing the highlighted word.
  2. Each correct letter moves the snake one square along the marked path toward the apple. The last letter eats it.
  3. A wrong key doesn't move the snake and costs you hunger time and your streak — the hunger bar drains while you type.
  4. Every apple makes the snake longer and the next word longer too. The run ends when the snake starves or runs out of room.

Tips for a longer snake

  • Read the whole word before the first key; the path shows exactly where each letter takes you.
  • Keep a steady rhythm instead of bursting — a clean streak is worth more points than a fast, sloppy one.
  • Watch the hunger bar, not the clock: the time you get per word shrinks as the snake grows.
  • Start on Easy to learn the pace, then step up to Medium once you can eat ten apples in a row.

Typing Snake — questions and answers

Is Typing Snake free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and is free forever.

What happens when I press a wrong key?

The snake stays where it is, your streak resets and the hunger bar loses about a second. Press the right letter to continue — nothing else is lost.

How is the score calculated?

Each apple gives a base score plus bonuses for word length, your clean streak and the hunger time left when you eat it.

How is it different from the typing speed test?

The speed test measures raw WPM. Typing Snake trains accuracy and steady rhythm with a goal on screen, which makes it easier to practise for longer.
