How to play Word Guess

1. Pick a difficulty and a language. Easy uses 4-letter words, Medium 5 and Hard 6 (with one try fewer).
2. Type a word of the right length and press Enter. It doesn't have to be a dictionary word — any letters work.
3. Green means the right letter in the right place, yellow means the letter is in the word but elsewhere, gray means it isn't in the word.
4. Solve the word to score and move to the next one. Faster solves with fewer guesses score more; run out of tries and the run ends.

Tips to solve it faster

• Open with a word that has common letters and few repeats so the first row tells you as much as possible.
• Keep the green letters in place and move the yellow ones to new positions on the next guess.
• Use the letters-tried list to avoid testing gray letters again.
• Type quickly but check the row before pressing Enter — the speed bonus is small compared with the tries you keep.

Is Word Guess free?

Yes. It runs entirely in your browser and needs no account.

Do my guesses have to be real words?

No. The game only checks the length, so any combination of letters is accepted — handy for testing letters, but real words usually solve faster.

How is the score calculated?

Each solved word gives a base score plus bonuses for tries left and for how quickly you solved it, and later words are worth a little more.

Which languages are supported?

English, Turkish, Spanish, Russian, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Indonesian, Dutch and Polish. Switch the language above the board.
