1 Minute Typing Test
One minute on the clock. Type the words as they flow in and get your words-per-minute, accuracy and a map of the keys you missed.
The 1 minute typing test is the most common format for measuring typing speed: long enough to even out a lucky or unlucky start, short enough to repeat between tasks. This one is pre-set to 60 seconds — press a key and the timer starts, stop typing and it ends automatically with a full breakdown.
The test defaults to English, but you can switch the word pool to Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese or Italian with the language row above the box. If a minute feels too short or too long, the 15, 30 and 120-second rounds are one click away. No account, no ads, and your best 1-minute score is saved in your browser.
1 minute typing test — frequently asked questions
Why is a 1 minute typing test the standard?
Sixty seconds is long enough that a stumble on one word doesn't wreck the score, and short enough to take often. Most typing benchmarks and job screening tests use a one to three minute window, so a 1-minute result is a good day-to-day gauge.
What is a good score on a 1 minute typing test?
Around 40 WPM is average for an adult. 60–70 WPM is fast, 90+ WPM is professional level, and top competitive typists exceed 120 WPM. Beginners often start near 20–30 WPM and improve quickly.
Does the timer start right away?
No. The 60-second countdown begins on your first keystroke, so you can get settled first. It ends the moment the time runs out and shows your WPM, accuracy, correct and incorrect keys, and an error map.
Can I take the 1 minute test in another language?
Yes. Use the language buttons above the test to switch the word pool between English, Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian. The 60-second timing stays the same.
