2 Minute Typing Test
Two minutes on the clock. Long enough for a steady speed reading, short enough to take between tasks — with accuracy and an error map at the end.
Two minutes is a common length for school typing assessments and job screening tests, and it is a good everyday benchmark: a burst of 15 or 30 seconds flatters your speed, while two minutes is long enough for hesitation, a few typos and the first signs of fatigue to show up in the number. This page opens the test pre-set to 120 seconds — the timer starts on your first keystroke and ends on its own.
Your score is WPM and accuracy on the same character-based formula as every other test length. If you are preparing for an employer or exam test, aim to keep accuracy at 95% or better before pushing speed — most screening tests penalise errors. The error map afterwards shows which keys cost you time, which is the list to drill in the touch typing lessons. Switch the word pool to any of the 20 languages; only your best score is kept, in your own browser.
2 minute typing test — frequently asked questions
Why do so many typing tests last two minutes?
Two minutes is long enough to average out a slow start and a few typos, yet short enough to run quickly for many candidates or students. It gives a steadier figure than 30 seconds without the fatigue a 10 minute test brings in.
What is a good 2 minute typing test score?
Roughly 40 WPM is average for an adult. Many office roles ask for 40–50 WPM, 60–70 WPM is fast and 90+ WPM is professional level. Accuracy usually matters as much as speed, so 95% or better is a sensible target.
Does the timer start immediately?
No. The 2:00 countdown begins on your first keystroke. When it ends you get your WPM, accuracy, correct and incorrect keys and an error map showing which keys cost you the most.
Can I take the 2 minute test in another language?
Yes. The language buttons above the test switch the word pool between English, Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian and more. The 120-second length stays the same.
