Portuguese Typing Test
Measure how fast you type in Portuguese. The test draws from a curated pool of everyday Portuguese vocabulary, so you practise the words you actually use.
This Portuguese typing test shares the engine of the main typing speed test, with a Portuguese word pool: common verbs, nouns, connectors and everyday vocabulary, sampled at random. Your result comes back as WPM (words per minute) and accuracy, using the same character-based formula as every other language on the site.
Portuguese uses the nasal vowels ã and õ, the cedilla ç, and acute, circumflex and grave accents. The pool mixes vocabulary common to both European and Brazilian Portuguese so the practice transfers either way. Choose a time mode from 15 to 120 seconds, or a fixed word count, and start typing — free, no account, no ads.
Portuguese typing test — frequently asked questions
How is the Portuguese typing test scored?
Correct characters are counted, divided by five for average word length, then divided by minutes elapsed to give WPM. Accuracy is correct keystrokes over total keystrokes. Every language uses the same formula.
Does it cover both European and Brazilian Portuguese?
The word pool leans on vocabulary shared by both. Spelling differences between the two variants are minor at this everyday level, so the test is useful whichever one you type.
Do I need a Portuguese keyboard?
No. The test reads the characters you produce, on any layout. A Portuguese or Brazilian (ABNT2) layout makes ã, õ and ç easier to reach, but the test still runs without them.
Is the Portuguese typing test free?
Yes. No sign-up, no email, no ads. Your best score stays in your browser unless you submit it to the leaderboard.
