15 Second Typing Test
Fifteen seconds, full focus. Type as fast as you can and get your words per minute, accuracy and the keys you missed.
The 15 second typing test is the quickest way to check your speed: it fits between two tasks, and it is short enough that you can run it five or six times in a row and watch the number move. It opens pre-set to 15 seconds — the timer starts on your first keystroke and ends on its own, with a full breakdown.
Fifteen seconds is a sprint, so expect it to read a little higher than a longer test and to vary more from one run to the next: one slow word or a single typo moves the score noticeably. Use it to warm up or to chase a personal best, and use the 30 second, 1 minute and 5 minute tests when you want a steadier number. You can switch the word pool to any of the 20 languages, and your best score stays in your own browser.
15 second typing test — frequently asked questions
How is WPM calculated in 15 seconds?
Every correct character is counted, divided by five for an average word length, and scaled up to a full minute. Accuracy is correct keystrokes over total keystrokes. The formula is identical for every test length, so a 15 second result is directly comparable with a 1 minute one.
Is a 15 second test accurate?
It is a good measure of burst speed but a noisy one — a single slow word is a large share of fifteen seconds. Average several runs instead of trusting one, or use the 1 minute or 5 minute test for a number that evens out hesitation and fatigue.
When does the 15 second timer start?
On your first keystroke, not when the page loads, so you can settle your hands first. It stops the moment the time is up and shows your WPM, accuracy, correct and incorrect keys and an error map.
Can I take the 15 second test in another language?
Yes. Use the language buttons above the test to switch the word pool — Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian and more. The 15 second timing stays the same.
