Words flow in automatically. Press space to finish a word.

This version of the typing test is set up for younger typists: it opens in word mode with a 10-word round, so a test is over in well under a minute and there's no ticking clock adding pressure. The words are short, common and lowercase, pulled from the same everyday pool as the main test.

There are no ads, no pop-ups and no account to create, so a child can use it unsupervised at home or on a school computer. After each round they see words per minute, accuracy, and a small map of the letters they missed — enough feedback to improve without being overwhelming. For structured learning, the free touch typing lessons start from where the fingers go and build up one step at a time.

Typing test for kids — frequently asked questions

What is a good typing speed for a child?

It depends on age and practice. Many children reach 15–25 WPM in primary school and 25–40 WPM by their early teens. Accuracy matters more than speed at this stage — a clean 20 WPM beats a sloppy 35.

Is this typing test safe for kids to use alone?

Yes. There are no ads, no external links in the test, no chat, and no sign-up or personal details. Scores are saved only in the browser on that device. The leaderboard is entirely opt-in and needs a deliberate button press.

How long is each round?

The page opens with a 10-word round, which most children finish in 20–40 seconds. You can raise it to 25, 50 or 100 words, or switch to a timed round, using the buttons above the test.

How can my child get faster?

Short, regular sessions beat long occasional ones — five to ten minutes a day is plenty. Start with the touch typing lessons to learn correct finger placement, keep eyes off the keyboard, and let the typing games make daily practice something they want to do.
