Thirty seconds is a good middle ground between a pure sprint and a full minute: long enough that one stumble does not decide the score, short enough to repeat several times in a sitting. This page opens the test pre-set to 30 seconds — the timer starts on your first keystroke and ends by itself with a full breakdown.

Your result is reported as WPM and accuracy, using the same character-based formula as every other test length, so a 30 second score sits directly beside your 1 minute and 5 minute results. If your 30 second number is clearly higher than your 1 minute number, that gap is your endurance — the longer tests and the touch typing lessons are where it closes. Switch the word pool to any of the 20 languages; nothing is stored beyond your best score, in your own browser.

30 second typing test — frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my WPM from a 30 second test?

The test does it for you: correct characters divided by five, scaled to a full minute. By hand, take the words you typed correctly in the 30 seconds and double them — the on-screen number uses characters, which is slightly fairer to long words.

Is 30 seconds long enough for a reliable result?

It is reliable enough for a quick check and a daily warm-up. For a figure to put on a CV or compare with a benchmark, a 1 to 3 minute test is steadier because one slow word or typo counts for less.

What is a good score on a 30 second typing test?

About 40 WPM is average for an adult, 60–70 WPM is fast and 90+ WPM is professional level. Short tests tend to read a little higher than long ones, because you do not tire in 30 seconds.

Can I use the 30 second test in another language?

Yes. The language buttons above the test switch the word pool between English, Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian and more, and the 30 second timer stays the same.
